Psalterium, printed in Augsburg by Erhardum (Erharte) Ratdolt in 1494. Arriving in the states in the late 1800’s, this volume had been rebound in the 19th century and had a crumbling leather spine and sides of German pastepaper. Wormholes in the pages had been covered with square chunks of paper seen being removed below. The original sewing structure had broken at the boards, so we worked in new material for cords and laced new beveled covers on in a style common to the 15th century. Rebound in dark calf, it was tooled in blind, again in period style.
